Illustrator & Surface Pattern Designer
22 year old Illustrator & Surface Pattern Freelance Designer Rachel has recently graduated at Leeds College of Art with a successful 2:1 after studying BA (Hons) Printed Textiles and Surface Pattern recognised by the signature Rachel Louise Corcoran. Rachel has a versatile approach to surface pattern design being able to adapt her style into different handwritings in both the Fashion and Interior markets. Rachel is influenced and inspired by everything from future trends to historical artists, nature and her surroundings.
Since graduating university Rachel exhibited at New Designers were she got successfully noticed and is currently working as a Freelance Designer supplying prints to H by Henry Holland at Debenhams and Sandra Nunnes Collecting Colour based in New York translating the latest trends into patterns for the relevant market. This line of work is setting Rachel up for being in the industry, and for her ambition to eventually become a design director.

Rachels degree show collection Intoxicated Environment came from the continuation of her last project on the theme of life and death, in which life was represented through animals and flowers and death through animal and human remains, signifying the end of existence. The concept implies ambiguous nature through the element of spiritual mystery and a sense of belonging. Rachel's A/W 2012 collection Intoxicated Environment is of a very original and distinctive nature, combining processes such as painting, illustration, photograms and human and animal X-rays coupled with digital media allowing her to produce new, exciting, distinctive and trend driven prints.
The full degree collection was exhibited at New Designers, London 29th June - 2nd July 2011, stand T14.
